Founded in 1994 by skateboarding pioneers Rick Howard and Mike Carroll, Chocolate Skateboards emerged as a sister brand to Girl, their first venture together. Today, Chocolate continues to be distributed by the renowned Girl Distribution Company, alongside other iconic brands like Girl Skateboards, Royal Skateboard Trucks, Ruby Republic, and Fourstar Clothing.
The original Chocolate team boasted an impressive lineup, including Keenan Milton, Chico Brenes, Daniel Castillo, and more, many of whom made guest appearances in early Girl videos. Throughout the years, Chocolate has showcased its unique identity through captivating videos, like "Las Nueve Vidas de Paco" and "The Chocolate Tour," capturing the essence of their team's diverse talents.
With the commitment of longtime team members like Chico Brenes and Daniel Castillo, Chocolate's current roster includes Vincent Alvarez, Kenny Anderson, Elijah Berle, and an array of other exceptional skaters. Recently, the team welcomed former Enjoi rider Jerry Hsu, adding a new dimension to their already dynamic lineup.
The highly-acclaimed "Pretty Sweet" video, filmed across breathtaking locations like Nicaragua, Costa Rica, China, and Barcelona, showcased the talents of both the Girl and Chocolate team members. Produced by a legendary team of skate film pioneers, including Spike Jonze and Ty Evans, "Pretty Sweet" was named the best video of the year at the prestigious Transworld SKATEboarding Awards.
